Palestine is…the ‘Khan’ to protect pilgrims

Khan Yunis is a market town in Gaza which contains a fortified camp built in the 14th century to protect caravans and pilgrims on their way to Mecca from Jerusalem. The camp, known as a ‘Khan’, was built by Amir Yunus al-Nuruzi, and the town was named after him.
