We met Fatou in Al Aoudi Syrian refugee camp, in the Bekaa Valley
We met Fatou in Al Aoudi Syrian refugee camp, in the Bekaa Valley. The camp is the only officially recognised camp for Syrians in the area.
“My name is Fatou, I’m 12 and I’m from Jobar (Damascus, Syria). I live with my mum and dad, and my five brothers and sisters. We arrived in the camp two years ago. In the morning I wake up and wash my face, have breakfast and then put on my school uniform. I love studying English, it’s my favourite subject! When I come back from school, I do my homework. In the camp, we have Fridays and Saturdays off so I always play outside the tent with my friends. My favourite food is pizza. I am really happy to be here with all my family. I feel safe in the camp.”
