Fighting malnourishment in the
Gaza Strip
Last summer’s assault on Gaza
plunged the population into even deeper poverty, leaving thousands of
Palestinians more vulnerable than they already were. The food that families in
Gaza have access to is often of poor nutritional value and as a result,
Palestinians are facing malnourishment and long-term ill health. This is
particularly true for children and pregnant women with malnourishment
contributing towards high rates of infant and maternal mortality in the
occupied territories.
It is for this
reason that Interpal recently distributed frozen Qurbani meat to over 2,500
Palestinian families. The meat was distributed across the whole of the Gaza
Strip, and helped to ease some of the burdens that families in Gaza face.
